The Buffalo County Economic Development Council was formed in 1986 and has worked closely with city, county and state leaders to make Kearney & Buffalo County more attractive to businesses.  A non-profit corporation that supports and promotes responsible and sustainable economic development, the Council’s board and staff are comprised of a diverse group of management and business professionals.

 

The Council is funded from a combination of sources including the City of Kearney, City of Gibbon, City of Ravenna, Buffalo County and, more than 80 businesses.

Knowing that continued population growth and economic diversification is key to the continued growth and prosperity of Cozad, the intent of the Cozad Development Corporation is to  broaden the local tax base, support the recruitment, retention and expansion of business and industry,  create new job opportunities to retain our region's young people, and  foster development that maintains and improves the quality of life for area residents.

Dawson Public Power serves nearly 23,000 accounts in central Nebraska from west of North Platte to east of Kearney. We strive to improve the well being of our customers and the communities they call home. This includes support for businesses of all sizes and our rural communities that we call home. We’ve partnered with USDA Rural Development and the Nebraska Enterprise Fund to provide loan funding for small businesses. Our goal is to provide the support for our customers so that they can grow and prosper.

NIFA is an independent quasi-governmental instrumentality that encourages the investment of private capital in Nebraska to stimulate economic growth, thereby creating jobs and building the tax base for communities in the state. NIFA's programs provide low-interest rate financing for manufacturing facilities, certain farm property, health care facilities, residential rental properties, housing rehabilitation, homeownership, public safety communications projects and wastewater treatment and safe drinking water facilities. NIFA also provides technical assistance for activities related to these areas, while preserving and growing the asset base used to provide these resources.

The North Platte Area Chamber of Commerce & Development Corporation is a private, non-profit organization of business professionals who are dedicated to improving the economic and civic environment of the North Platte area while fostering the growth and prosperity of business.
